Welcome back! Have you stretched today? If not, here are some of the stretches I’ve being doing daily. This is a 10 minute yoga challenge! Remember to take deeps breathes and really allow your body to dig deep into the stretches. This week I’ve been stepping up my stretching game a bit, and this is for my own fun and pleasure. Achieving my goals make me feel even better! I can kind of do the scorpion pose. I just have a balance issue and can only hold it for 5 seconds. That’s okay; I know I’m no cheerleader. My body has remembered how to do the splits, and I’m actually using my yoga blocks to deepen that stretch. My stress levels have gone down a significant amount, and I think this is because my body feels better. Do you ever feel cranky when you’re sore? Having tense muscles makes me soooo uncomfortable, and it adds to my stress. Think about it, you’re already stressed about god knows what, and then you get up and ouch! Your body is stiff, now you’re stressing about your bo...

Welcome back! This week I set some silly goals, but to me I find them impressive. I want to perfect the scorpion pose, do the splits, and learn how to different types of handstands. Am I getting off topic...? Not really because it is up to me how I want to stretch and what I want to stretch. On my journey I want to have a little fun. Guess what?!?! I’ve been feeling much better mentally. I am now, for the most part, all caught up in school. Although assignments keep flying in, I’ve figured out a routine that’s been working well for me which is to just get them over with. I do my work as soon as it’s handed to me so that I’m not upset the day before it’s due. I ran my first facilitation and didn’t pass out from nervousness. I actually sat on my floor before the presentation and did some breathing exercises and some leg and back stretching to get my mind to calm down. This DID help a lot, but at the end of the day you can’t fix shy and I my heart was still beating fast thought ...

Hi everyone, Welcome back for GH blog post #2! Oh boy do I have a lot to say today. So let’s start- My main focus for this GH is stretching and my mental health. Speaking of mental health, I’ve been having an off week. I recently moved in with my boyfriend and our dog, but we are living out of town for school. I’ve been struggling with my course load since I’ve only ever taken 4 classes a semester, for me, 7 classes seems impossible this term! Hearing the news of online classes for the winter semester has really crushed my spirit as I was excited to meet my peers and was looking forward to in person classes since I feel so crammed in our apartment. With that being said, I took it upon myself to.... you guessed it, stretch the stress out. The way I’m doing this is, 10 minutes in the morning of quiet, relaxing stretching, and 10 minutes at night before bed. I’m definitely a morning person so the morning stretch will be no problem. However stretching before bed- that will...

Hi everyone, Welcome to my stretching blog! My name is Lianna and I'm currently in my first year of teachers college at Brock University. I’ve created this blog for a school project called Genius hour. This is a great way of encouraging students to study what they want to, and learn about things that make them happy. I’m thankful to be able to have Genius Hour in my busy teachers college life. This gives me a little mental break from all my other education courses. For those of you who don’t know- Genius Hour is a student-driven research project where students pursue a topic they feel passionate about and work on it for 1 hour a week. What are my goals for this project you might ask? Well, for this project, my goals are to spend more time on my mental health and well being. When I think of mental health and well being, I think of stretching, meditation, and yoga. I want to feel at ease and more calm, especially during the stressful school year. How can this happen? How ca...
